Regulations of the 1st Congress on Advances and Techniques in Minor Surgery

Participation in the congress:

The 1st Congress on Advances and Techniques in Minor Surgery is a congress that will be held completely online and is aimed at any professional who is related to and interested in this health sector. The congress will be held from 21 to 22 January 2022 and has a structure identical to that of an in-person congress.

There is a scientific and organising committee, a scientific programme with accredited papers, poster or oral communications will be accepted and there will be different round tables or webinars on different current topics on advances and techniques in minor surgery. All this, organised by a group of professionals with many years of experience in the sector and giving face-to-face classes in different Autonomous Communities of Spain.

Registration for the 1st Congress on Advances and Techniques in Minor Surgery is unique, i.e. each person can only register once. Registration for the congress includes:

- Sending up to 5 scientific communications as main author and appearing in those of your colleagues in an unlimited way. Up to 6 authors for each paper (1 main author and 5 co-authors).

- Submit two symposium papers as a single author.

- View the papers submitted by the other participants during the congress days.

- Attend the different presentations that will take place during the days of the event.

- Obtain 3 different certificates:

  1. For attendance and participation in the 1st Congress on Advances and Techniques in Minor Surgery.
  2. For each of the papers presented, both as author and co-author. Specifying the type of work submitted (poster or oral communication, or symposium paper).
  3. For the visualisation of the different accredited papers that will be presented during the days of the congress and that can be viewed on the platform of the event on 18, 19, 20 and 21 January 2022.

The registration fee depends on the date of payment:

- Up to 20 October: 60€.

- Until 1 January: 85€.

- Until 19 January: €95

Deadline for submission of scientific papers until 7 January.

In order to obtain the certificates of attendance and of the submitted papers, it will not be necessary to display a minimum number of posters or oral communications. However, in order to obtain the certificate for the accredited papers, it will be necessary to view all of them and complete the survey that will appear at the end of viewing them.

All authors of any scientific communication submitted must be registered in the congress before the congress starts in order for them to be published correctly. Once the paper has been approved, remember to go to the My Papers section and generate the poster or video.

The refund of the registration fee is subject to a 50% penalty until 31 October 2021. After this date, there will be no refund of the amount paid under any condition whatsoever.

  1. Types of papers accepted and requirements:

The following types of papers may be presented at the congress and must have a certain structure that varies according to each type:

- Research studies completed with results or literature reviews on any topic. Structure: Title, Introduction-Objective, Methodology, Results, Discussion-Conclusion, Bibliography.

- Research studies without results or research projects. Structure: Title, Introduction-Objective, Methodology, Discussion-Conclusion.

- Bachelor's and Master's theses. Structure: the summary of the same is accepted without having to make changes to the format.

- Clinical cases, clinical notes, or clinical images of interest. Structure: Title, Introduction, Case-Clinical, Discussion-Conclusion.

The maximum number of words for each paper is APPROXIMATELY 500 (the platform automatically limits the number) (Title 250 characters, introduction-objectives 320 characters, methodology 680 characters, results 1300 characters, discussion-conclusion 700 characters, clinical case (if you select this type of study) 830 characters and bibliography 700 characters).

During the submission process, the main author will select whether he/she wants his/her work to be evaluated as a poster, as an oral communication (video) or as a symposium paper. The text of the paper is sent from the "New Communication" section, there is the possibility of including an image in each scientific communication sent to accompany the text. It is not necessary to be registered in the congress to be able to send a paper and have it reviewed by the Scientific Committee.

ALL AUTHORS MUST BE REGISTERED to be able to generate the poster or upload the video once the paper is accepted, they are generated/uploaded from "My Papers" in the "Generate Poster/Video" button.

Once a scientific paper has been accepted, NO changes can be made to it. In order to make any changes to an accepted paper, it must first be deleted and then resubmitted, and it must be re-evaluated by the scientific committee and may be rejected. Both rejected papers and those modified after acceptance must be resubmitted, with their respective changes, within the submission deadline to be re-evaluated by the Scientific Committee.

Once the deadline for submission of scientific papers has expired, no scientific paper will be accepted for review. Those communications that are pending evaluation on the day of the deadline for submission will be corrected within 48 hours after the deadline.

The scientific committee may reject any scientific paper that does not meet the appropriate quality criteria to be published at the Congress. The change of status of scientific communications will be notified by email and also in the "My Communications" section of each author's session. It will be notified in two simultaneous ways: by email (according to each author's registration) and in the "My Communications" section within each author's session. In no case will any communication be rejected without notifying the main author of the reason for the rejection.

  1. Assessment criteria:

The Scientific Committee when reviewing scientific communications will assess the following aspects of each section in order to be able to accept a scientific communication according to the type of communication:

- Title: Identifies and accurately reflects the subject of the study; Is specific and concise (maximum information in the minimum number of words; Does not use abbreviations, acronyms or superfluous expressions.

- Introduction-Objectives: Contextualises the subject of the project / background / theoretical importance; Objectives are in the infinitive form; Objectives are measurable / achievable.

- Methodology: Describes in a global way how the study was carried out; Describes the study design; Describes the sample and data analysis (if any in the work); In case of a literature review, indicates the keywords used and the databases consulted.

- Clinical Case: Summarises the most relevant data of the clinical case; tells a logical evolution of the clinical case, providing treatment, management as well as its evolution.

- Results: The results are coherent with the objectives; they are correctly presented.

- Discussion-Conclusion: The conclusion is coherent with the objectives; The discussion compares the results with other studies; It makes practical implications or future lines.

  1. Characteristics of oral communications and symposium papers:

The video will be sent once the scientific communication has been accepted and all the authors of the paper have registered for the congress. This will be done from the section My Communications and in Accepted, click on Generate Video.

The main author (first author) must send his work through this web page so that it can be exhibited during the congress.

Technical characteristics of the videos:

- The content of the video is at the author's discretion and will be based on the abstract of the scientific paper submitted for review by the committee.

- The video may contain a slide presentation with the voice of the main author in the background or the figure of the author speaking in front of a camera about the scientific communication to be presented, and may or may not add the slide presentation as a guide depending on what the author considers.

- Oral communications. The duration of the video will never be longer than 7 minutes or shorter than 2 minutes.

- Symposium papers. The duration of this type of video will be approximately 20/30 minutes.

- If the main author appears in the video, he/she must be dressed according to the scientific event.

- Video file, no matter the format, but preferably in MP4.

 

  1. Congress accreditation:

The 1st Congress on Advances and Techniques in Minor Surgery is awaiting recognition of health interest by the Regional Ministry of Health of the Region of Murcia and Accreditation of Continuing Education for Health Professions (CFC).

Since the beginning of the planning of this Congress, a meticulous and rigorous quality has been followed in terms of its scientific structure, choice of speakers, scientific committee and certificate design. All the professionals participating in the congress have years of experience in the field of minor surgery and wound management.

 

  1. Organisation and communication with the congress participants:

The 1st Congress on Advances and Techniques in Minor Surgery is organised by PARACELSIK, S.L. The Spanish Scientific Society for Health Training (SOCIFOSA) provides collaboration, support and scientific quality, although its only participation is to ensure the scientific quality of the congress and to encourage and promote the development of health in all its aspects. This same function is carried out by all the collaborators who support this congress and who contribute to its organisation and development (all the congress collaborators can be consulted in the "collaborators" section).

  1. Penalties for non-compliance or falsification:

If the Organising Committee of the 1st Congress on Advances and Techniques in Minor Surgery has reliable knowledge of the falsity of the data provided in the registration process by the attendee and/or participant, they will be eliminated and expelled from the Congress, i.e. they will not have access to the Congress, nor will they be able to obtain any diploma. This measure may be taken before, during and after the congress. It may also give rise to legal action under Spanish law.
